Food & Nutrition
Hot breakfast before school, a packed lunch, and a family-style dinner cooked in the Broad Street kitchen.
Our kitchen team plans menus around what children in recovery actually need: iron, protein and calories. Severely underweight children join a twelve-week supervised feeding track with fortnightly weigh-ins, and every child under six receives a mid-morning milk and fruit round.

Education
Tuition, books, uniforms and after-school tutoring so that no child loses a year of school to paperwork.
We pay term fees directly to schools, supply the exercise books and shoes that quietly keep children out of class, and run a homework room from 4pm on weekdays. Nineteen of our older students are on a vocational track in tailoring, welding and computer literacy.

Healthcare
Routine check-ups, malaria and respiratory treatment, dental days, immunisations and emergency transport.
A visiting nurse holds clinic twice a week and every child has a paper and digital health file. We partner with four local clinics for lab work and specialist referral, and we hold a small emergency fund so no child waits on a decision about money while they are unwell.

Clothing & Essentials
Seasonal clothing, school shoes, underwear, sanitary supplies, soap, toothbrushes and bedding.
Children grow out of everything at once. Twice a year we run a fitting week where every child is measured and takes home clothes chosen for them rather than handed down anonymously. Older girls receive a private monthly hygiene pack, no questions asked.

A bed, a lock, a light that works
Shelter & Care
Safe dormitories, repairs, clean water, electricity and the house parents who keep it all running.
Shelter is the least photogenic and most expensive thing we do: roof repairs, water pumps, mattresses, a generator that starts. Eight house parents live alongside the children in small family groups of twelve to fourteen, rather than one large ward.

Helping families stay together
Community Outreach
Food parcels, school-fee support and counselling for at-risk families in the surrounding community.
The cheapest way to help a child is to stop them needing us. Our outreach workers visit widowed and grandparent-led households, cover a term of fees or a month of rent where that is the whole crisis, and run a Saturday feeding point open to any child who walks in.

Where Most Needed
An unrestricted gift that goes wherever the shortfall is deepest on the day it arrives.
Restricted gifts are wonderful and sometimes leave a hole elsewhere: a broken water pump, an emergency hospital run, a term of fees that arrived a week late. Unrestricted giving is what lets us say yes quickly, and it is reported on in the same monthly update as everything else.
