Who we are
Rising Hope began with nine children, one rented kitchen and a spare room on North Broad Street. Today it is a home for 118 children, an after-school room, a twice-weekly clinic and an outreach team that keeps 62 families from falling apart in the first place.
We keep the children in small family groups of twelve to fourteen with house parents who live alongside them — not a ward, not a queue. What we ask for is unglamorous and specific: a term of school fees, a month of utilities, a case of malaria treated before it becomes an emergency.

“He arrived in March holding a plastic bag and would not put it down for two days. In July he read a page out loud and the whole room went quiet, then loud.”
Kelechi is nine. He joined us in March after his grandmother could no longer manage, and he spent his first fortnight sitting near the kitchen door where he could see everyone coming and going. Four months of the homework room later, he is reading.
